The Festival of the Lost is a celebration that players look forward to all year long. The tower is filled with masked Guardians, with the faces of slain enemies and friends. Candies are scattered on the ground, dropped by fallen enemies. A spirit of joy fills the air as millions of players around the world come together for carefree fun. Here’s a walkthrough of Gone But Not Forgotten, the first quest of the Festival of the Lost.
How to Complete Gone But Not Forgotten in Destiny 2
Step 1. Talk to Eva Levante in the Tower.
This initial step will be completed after you receive your free Holiday Mask from Eva Levante. If you accidentally close the window where you can get their mask, just exit the conversation and talk to Eva again. This window will allow you to get one mask for free from a set of four elements. If you’re not sure which item to choose, check your current helmet’s item and copy it as a safe option.
Step 2: Wear a holiday mask
This step prompts you to put on the Festival Mask in your inventory. After donning, you can also change the appearance of the mask by going to the “Appearance” subscreen and activating the armor ornament. This mask only increases strength during the Festival of the Lost, and becomes ineffective after it ends.
Step 3. Talk to Eva Levante again.
If you talk to Eva Levante in the Tower, she will tell you about the Ghost Pages, which can only be earned during the Festival of the Lost. To earn these pages, you must complete quests while wearing the Festival Mask. These pages can be turned into Manifested Pages after defeating the Headless in the Haunted Sectors.
Step 4. Enter the haunted sector and complete the summoning ritual.
In order to complete this step, you must enter the Haunted Sector by opening the Tower map and triggering the action. To participate in the summoning ritual, stand in the glowing circles marked with an indicator. Once fully charged, they will spawn Headless.
Step 5 Turn Two Spectral Pages into Developed Pages
This step only requires you to defeat one Headless and complete one Haunted Sector, and can be completed as part of the previous step. This does not require any activation from the player, instead Manifest Pages are automatically converted from Spectral Pages.
Step 6. Talk to Eve to find out about the manifested pages.
To complete this step, speak to Eva Levante in the Tower and she will briefly mention that the Manifested Pages should be fed to the Book of the Forgotten. However, placing the developed pages in the book is part of the next step of the quest.
Step 7. Add your developed pages to the Book of Forgotten.
To complete this step, approach the pulpit of the Book of the Forgotten and interact with the item. Choose any of the three Locked Pages to complete the quest step. When unlocked, each of these Hidden Pages grants access to the Tales of the Forgotten vol. 2. Adding a developed page to the Book of the Forgotten also completes the triumph in the “Season of Plunder” category.
Step 8 Talk to Eva again.
To complete this step, talk to Eva Levante again in the Tower. She will inform you about your Festival of the Lost event card, as well as the masks and gift bags she offers in her store. She recommends that you familiarize yourself with your event card, as you may receive exclusive rewards.
Step 9: Claim Your First Event Trial
Eve invites you to claim your first event challenge from your event card. You can find this event card by going to Eva or by selecting the Festival of the Lost section on the quest page. Calling these challenges through the quest menu is usually the most efficient option, especially if you don’t have time to physically travel to the Tower.
Step 10. Talk to Eva and get your rewards.
To receive your rewards, approach Eva in the Tower and she will offer you a Mechabre Sniper Rifle as a gift.
